Over the last few weeks our student-athletes from across the United States of America have arrived in the United Kingdom, ahead of spending a year overseas!
This year’s class of student-athletes come from very varied backgrounds and include graduates from 28 different states and whilst all of our student’s shared a passion for furthering their sporting career, they all had very different sporting backgrounds.
Our student-athletes who travelled to the U.K. this Fall competed in 10 different sports and represent every U.S. college athletic association. They include student-athletes who have previously competed in the NCAA DI, DII, DIII, NAIA, USCAA and even several club athletes!
Due to the wide range of U.K. University connections that Play Overseas has, we are able to connect student-athletes with opportunities, regardless of the level that they have competed at.

As well as competing in a variety of sports, our athletes also had very different academic interests. Masters in Business Administration and Sport Management were two of the most popular courses, though students chose to study a wide range of postgraduate degrees, from masters degrees in Forensic Science to Artificial Intelligence.
When competing in the U.K. Student-athletes benefit from different eligibility rules that allow them to continue competing whilst studying for a masters degree, regardless of the number of years students have competed in the States! Aside from eligibility rules, there is another huge advantage to study as a postgraduate student in the U.K. and that is that a masters degree takes just 12 months to complete, allowing you to save both time and money whilst adding an overseas qualification to your resume.
With a wide range of masters degrees on offer, the shorter course time and opportunity to travel, playing a year in the U.K. as a postgraduate student-athlete is a great opportunity for anyone who isn’t quite yet ready to end their sporting career!

Play Overseas offers all student-athletes a free service to find out what options are available to them in the U.K. All applicants have our support in generating options, university applications and the student visa process.
The adventures for our incoming class of student-athletes is only just beginning and we cannot wait to follow their journeys over the next 12 months. Stay tuned on our social media as we follow their life in the classroom and sporting arena.
