Every year we work with a wide variety of student-athletes who have ambitions of playing and study overseas.
Applicants come to us from all over the United States with varying sporting and academic ambitions. As part of our free service, we work hard to find opportunities that best suit the academic ambitions of each applicant, regardless of their background. Once over hear in the U.K. we take great pride in following their success, both in the classroom and on the court.
After a weekend filled with sport across the U.K. we wanted to highlight two great performances of former NCAA D3 basketball players who are currently enjoying successful seasons in England.
Tyler BenjaminA graduate of Salve Regina University in Rhode Island, Tyler was a member of the Seahawks basketball team for two years. Tyler moved to the U.K. in September 2021 and is now pursuing his master’s degree in Strength and Conditioning, whilst continuing to play basketball. |

DeVaughn RuckerDeVaughn played four years of basketball for Washington University in St. Louis, where he appeared in 77 games over his four year career, earning First-Team all-UAA honours as a senior. He was also our class of student-athletes who moved to the U.K. for the Fall 2021 semester. DeVaughn is currently pursuing his master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering whilst continuing to play basketball. |
U.K. University Basketball for former college athletes:
Both Tyler and DeVaughn connected with Play Overseas during their senior year in college, motivated by the prospect of pursuing a master’s degree whilst continuing to play basketball.
The U.K. offers some fantastic playing opportunities for graduating student-athletes as the different eligibility rules allow students to continue competing, regardless of how many years they played for their NCAA or NAIA college.
To add to their overseas basketball, both Tyler and DeVaughn are currently competing for two teams during their time in the U.K. They compete for both their university and a local National League Basketball team, giving them the opportunity to train and compete regularly around their studies for their master’s degree.
Could you be next? We are recruiting for September 2022!
