Two Play Overseas Players Sign Professional Contracts

This week, two Play Overseas graduates signed professional contracts to continue playing basketball overseas.

Basketball players Earl Thompson and Mari Stewart have enjoyed plenty of success on the court during their time in the UK. Upon completing their postgraduate studies, we are incredibly proud to learn that both players have signed professional contracts to continue playing basketball overseas.

We look back at their success in the UK and where they will be heading next season.

Earl Thompson

During a fantastic season with Solent University, Earl helped his team to the Premier Division South title as well as the Semi-Final of the Men’s National Championship.

Earl was also able to represent his UK university at the 2022 European Universities Games in Poland, competing in the 3×3 Basketball Competition.

The Brandon University graduate will be continuing his basketball career in Portugal with S.C. Farense for the upcoming season.

Mari Stewart

West Virginia Wesleyan College graduate Mari also enjoyed a hugely successful season in the UK as she helped her university team secure a League Title and a National Trophy.

Mari is no stranger to playing overseas, having previously competed in Kosovo, Sweden, and Australia. After completing her master’s degree in Sport Science, Mari will be staying in the UK to continue her basketball career with the Nottingham Wildcats.
